Als der 2000 in Tiflis geborene Georgier Giorgi Gigashvili das Klavierspiel erlernte, dachte er keinesfalls an eine Karriere als Pianist. Seine größte Leidenschaft war das Singen und Arrangieren von Volksliedern und Popsongs. Mit 13 Jahren gewann er sogar die georgische Ausgabe des Wettbewerbs The Voice. Dennoch setzte er seine klassische Ausbildung am Konservatorium seiner Heimatstadt fort und erhielt schon bald Auszeichnungen auch auf dem Klavier, darunter der zweite Preis beim Arthur Rubinstein-Wettbewerb.

Das war der Startschuss für seine Pianisten-Laufbahn. Neugierig und experimentierfreudig ergründet Gigashvili seitdem ein originelles Repertoire, das bevorzugt eine Synthese aus klassischer und elektronischer Musik herstellt. Die Fachkritik lobt seinen unbedingten Ausdruckswillen und bezeichnet sein Spiel als pianistisch grandios. Er wird von diversen Stiftungen gefördert, war BBC New Generation Artist und tourt in der Saison 2025/26 als ECHO Rising Star durch die großen Konzerthäuser Europas.
